Lee's Deli

The announcement that Macy's in San Francisco is closing added another somber note to the city's atmosphere. However, what truly shocked me was another story: the closure of Lee's Deli.

Back in 2008, when I was working on Market St., Lee's Deli was my (kind of) last go-to spot for lunch. The lavish office lunch catering akin to what you'd find at Google wasn't as widespread back then, but the city was bursting with local eateries offering a plethora of lunchtime choices. Lee's Deli was my reliable fallback, but a still outstanding option for those indecisive moments.

It's a bittersweet farewell to yet another emblem of my past, another piece of my personal history in the city.
