8 Years
Eight years.
To be precise, it was seven years and ten months that I spent at Moloco. Last Friday marked my final day there. It became the longest tenure of my career—longer even than the time I spent at the company I once founded.
Throughout my 28-year career, I often joined companies when they were around 20 people, witnessing a handful of successes and quite a few failures. Moloco stands out as my most successful journey. When I joined, it was a scrappy 20-person startup; today, it’s a company of 800 people with a valuation exceeding $2 billion. Every time I joined a growing company, it left me with proud memories and a sense of joy. But I’ve learned that it’s time to move on when my legacy feels like my only value.
Today feels bizarre—it’s my first weekday in eight years without any work responsibilities (aside from a long list of family chores). Tomorrow, a new journey begins. New beginnings are always exciting—something I had almost forgotten after all these years.
